Meme coins dominated the crypto narrative in 2024, capturing 31% of global investor interest. These speculative assets grew beyond dog-themed tokens to include various animal- and personality-themed coins.
The main meme coin narrative ranked first, securing a 14.36% share of interest. This marked a notable rise from last year’s 8.32%. Additionally, four meme coin trends made the top 20, including:

AI Narratives Maintain Momentum
Artificial intelligence (AI) remained a top crypto narrative, accounting for 16% of investor interest across six AI-related trends.
The overall AI narrative ranked second, with a 12.58% share of interest. However, despite a slight increase from last year, AI trailed behind meme coins in popularity.

RWA and DePIN Gain Traction
Real-world assets (RWA) and decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN) gained significant attention this year.
- RWA Narrative: Increased from 6.48% in 2023 to 8.64% in 2024, rising to third place.
- DePIN Narrative: Climbed to eighth place with a 3.38% share, up 1.56 percentage points.
In contrast, the GameFi narrative dropped sharply, falling from 10.49% to just 3.72% of investor interest.
Solana and Base Shine
Solana-related narratives captured 14.30% of interest, ranking just behind AI narratives. Solana meme coins accounted for nearly half of this attention, while the broader Solana ecosystem secured 5.78%.
Base-related narratives also gained prominence, combining for 4.87% of interest across Base meme coins (2.13%) and the Base ecosystem (2.68%).
