For the first time, an exchange-traded fund (ETF) investing directly in Bitcoin will be listed on Australia’s main stock market, joining a wave of similar launches following the introduction of such products in the US and Hong Kong.

The stock exchange operator ASX Ltd. has approved the Bitcoin ETF from VanEck.

“Although cryptocurrency investment remains a polarizing topic, we acknowledge that Bitcoin is an emerging asset class that many advisors and investors are eager to access,” said Arian Neiron, VanEck’s Chief Executive Officer for the Asia-Pacific region, in a statement.
